As most of you know, Frida Kahlo is my homegirl. I have loved her since high school and pretty much gravitate towards all things Frida. Which is why I felt compelled to post this portrait done by Argentinean artist, Carolina Gallo. It’s a painting of Amy Winehouse, looking like Frida Kahlo (resembling Kahlo’s “Self-portrait with Thorn Necklace and Hummingbird.”). Not 100% sure what the piece means, although both Winehouse and Kahlo were strong female artists who suffered intense tragedies…not sure if that’s it, but I think the painting is visually gripping none-the-less.
