Why I Love The iPad And You Should, Too. »

Here’s a blog post I wrote for HZDG’s blog (which, let’s be honest, I write almost all of the blog posts for). It’s about how owning the iPad has affected my life as a consumer and how all companies that want better, more authentic relationships with their customers should strive to create relevant, unique content that can live in this space. Read on, my friends!

The Silver Lining

Excellent news! The WAWF video I helped concept for while freelancing at RP3 Agency has won a Silver ADDY at districts in the Public Service, Broadcast/Electronic, Interactive category. It will now be forwarded to the worldwide competition and winners will be announced at the American Advertising Federation’s annual conference in June in Orlando.

If you haven’t seen the video yet, then we’re not really friends. Just kidding :) Check it out here.

My Boss is Awesome.

Chad: Well at least you know that I'm not monitoring your blog!

Elyse: NOW you are...

Chad: Nah, you're boring.

Elyse: Uh oh, that's going on the blog.

Chad: No way!

Elyse: LOL, just kidding.

Chad: I'm putting it on my blog first.

Elyse: Oh no you don't!

An Open Letter to a Select Group of Art Directors and Graphic Designers

Dear Art Directors and Graphic Designers Who Change Copy Without First Consulting the Writer,

You’re a bunch of dirty, filthy, unprofessional, condescending pieces of shit. How dare you change any word or phrase without first consulting the writer. Shame on you.

Do not edit. Do not tweak. Do not abbreviate. Do not just “change one little thing.”

A deleted apostrophe. A displaced comma. An inappropriate ampersand. We will notice. We always notice. Guaranteed.

The next time you fucking do this to MY copy, I will personally delete all the fonts from your computer. Except Comic Sans. And I will encourage my writer brethren to do the same.

Back off,

A Concerned & On-Edge Copywriter Who Means Business

Rave Reviews.

So…not toot my own horn or anything, but I’ve been spotting these great comments about the creative work done to promote the DC ADDYs all over the place. And it’s just all been so—I don’t want to say life affirming since that phrase is restricted to recovering addicts, I think (right, Intervention?)—but, definitely, something a feeling that is a few steps below that. Let’s call it “career affirming.”

Anyway, toot toot.

Helping Women "Be That Woman" »

This ad I worked on over the summer at RP3 Agency has, so far, helped raise over $80,000 for WAWF. This is incredibly humbling…and easily the best creative work I’ve ever helped produce. I’m floored. I didn’t know advertising could make such an impact for good—and not just for fast food chains and sugared cereals.

It’s going to be featured next month in Archiver. For once I can actually say that I can’t wait to spend $15+ on that magazine.

I LOVE pointless iPhone apps! This “Let it Snow” app by Ogilvy UK is chock-full of holiday cheer.
Here’s a pic of the copy department at work. Awwwww…this could be our Christmas card. Ya know, if we weren’t all such smug, angsty writers and actually SENT Christmas cards…oh copywriters…why are we all so bitter and jaded…
