I’ve had a pretty pricey spring so far…aka I have been doing a lot of shopping. I don’t know, I’ve been so sick of my current wardrobe and routine. Sometimes you just need to freshen up, ya know? Well, I’ve been pretty stoked on a lot of my new purchases and had to share. Here are a few things that I’ve been listening to, reading and wearing so far…enjoy!
Tunes: HBO Girl’s Season 1 Soundtrack - I cannot stop listening to the entire soundtrack of Girls. Not only has the show become one of my all-time favorites, but the music is fun, upbeat and quirky. My very favorite kinds. My favorite tracks are “Bang Bang Bang,” “Wreckin’ Bar,” “I Love It,” and of course “Dancing on My Own.”
Jeans: Sexy Boyfriend Jeans from GAP - I’m really excited the baggy casual jeans trend is back. Don’t get me wrong. I love tight sleek dark jeans just as much as the next girl, but sometimes you just want something a bit more, uhm, forgiving. So yay! I’m all about this trend.
Jacket: Synthetic Leather Biker Jacket from Uniqlo - I’d heard of the Japanese clothing company Uniqlo because they win a lot of interactive/advertising awards, but I didn’t know they had stores in the states. Not until last weekend when I wound up in NYC for a quick work trip and a bit of extra time. The store was recommended to me and I fell in love. So many fun, funky options at really affordable prices. It was heaven. But anyway, this jacket. THIS. JACKET. Was $29 and may be one of my favorite items of clothing ever. It fits perfectly and has just the right amount of edge. I can’t wait to rock it all spring.
Reads: Paris, I Love You But You’re Bringing Me Down by Rosencrans Baldwin - In full transparency, I’m only about 40 pages into this sucker, but I already love it. This memoir is about the author’s obsession with France since he was a child. When he gets the opportunity to temporarily work/live in Paris for a year, he is just beside himself with joy. The book chronicles his hilarious missteps and miscommunications throughout the trip. It’s well-written, charming and wildly entertaining for a self-diagnosed Francophile like me.
Shoes: Crown Vintage Perry Bootie - These new little guys I got at DSW will definitely be a fun, neutral staple for me this season.
Pretties: Boudoir Eyes Eye Shadow Collection by Two Faced - Love the sparkly brows and pinks in this palette. I’ve always preferred softer and subtler eye makeup, and this collection has a variety of tones to choose from and is easy for me to throw in my gym bag. Double score!

I am suffering from some MASSIVE shoe envy over here. The fabulous Jenna Lyons, creative director at JCrew, has 289 pairs of shoes. And they are all beautiful. I really enjoyed watching her talk about color and style—she really has impacted the fashion industry (and marketing the fashion industry) in huge ways.

And this video totally proves my point to Brad; I don’t have THAT many shoes.

My two very favorite styles of photography are: 1) Classic Polaroids (RIP) and 2) The vintage-esque photos on Instagram. What can I say? I guess I have a nostalgic sort of aesthetic.

So I was thrilled to discover that Australian company Origrami, prints your favorite Instagram photos in the style of old-school Polaroids. Just synch up your Instagram account on their website and order your 30 favorites to be Polaroid-ized. Now, they aren’t LITERALLY transformed into Polaroids, but the quality is pretty good! The backs include the date you posted the image as well as how many people on Instagram “liked” it.

I got mine in the mail yesterday (it took a BIT longer than I had anticipated, so if you plan on ordering, just be aware that they have to travel halfway around the world). I was so excited to see how I could use them, that I started taping them to the wall in our bedroom. It made a very cute, very graphic photo gallery wall.

Please note that this is not a sponsored post, just a product I’m extremely excited about.

Darn you adorable red heart umbrella! Why must you be $55? You should REALLY consider being $15. (Hint, hint)

I’m not super into fashion. Sure I watch Project Runway, and enjoy perusing the occasional Vogue, but I am SO not a fashionista, labelista or any other type of -ista (although at one time I was a barrista, but that point is moot). I pretty much have my number one favorite “label” (cough, Kate Spade, cough) but mostly wear a variety of random shirts and jeans from Target, Old Navy, and MAYBE JCrew. If they had a sale. Maybe! So you see, I’m not SUPER adventurous when it comes to fashion (with the exception of my blue leather Sketchers sneakers in 7th grade, and my Madewell poncho which I wear in the summer to BBQs to make people uncomfortable).

Even though I really ENJOY the aesthetics and design of fashion, I don’t know anything about fabrics or materials, and only know the MOST famous, top-level designers.

With that caveat out of the way, I’ve never heard of this designer or line or collection or whatever-the-flip it’s called Carven, but it’s TO DIE for. Now I know what Rachel Zoe means when she says, “I DIE!” I always thought that phrase was SO melodramatic and ridiculous (Really? You’re DYING over some old, dusty fur coat? DYING????) But now I get it. So, my bad Raych. Oh and you can view the full Carven collection here.

I LOVE this straw, summer hat. Too bad it’s sold out :( It would have been perfect for wearing out in the yard.

Just watched last night’s episode of Glee (yes, I know I said that I was ‘over’ Glee, but that doesn’t mean I stopped WATCHING Glee…moving on…) and can we please talk about the FABULOUS COAT that Emma wore about midway through the episode? Well I found it on Kate Spade (duh! Of course the most fabulous company ever made the most fabulous coat ever).
The good news? It’s on sale! The bad news? For $521 (side note: isn’t $521 an incredibly random price?)
Bummer…
